Pristine and calm, this beach is a point where the Tejaswini River kisses the Arabian Sea. Its silky, soft sand, lagoons, pulimuttu (a sea walkway), splashing and roaring waves and lush green ambience make the beach beautiful. The beach has not yet been tainted by modernisation. For the same reason, it attracts visitors and vendors in fewer numbers. Azhimukham (the estuary of Mayyazhi River and the Arabian Sea) and the scenic sunset between coconut palms render a feast for the eyes. This is a good spot for long walks, weekend hangouts and a houseboat cruise on the Tejaswini River nearby.
Fishing is a common activity here. People fish using regular fishing hooks and modern fishing rods alike. There are a lot of people fishing every day and so it’s fair to expect some dishes served up using fresh fish upon request. The rock walls turn into natural seats for those fishing. Soft, golden sand carpets bordered with huge rocks is an ideal backdrop for an offbeat seashore experience. The scattered casuarina trees enhance the beauty, turning it into an ideal location for photoshoots. An early morning walk here is an ideal start for the day. It’s a perfect place to watch the gorgeous sunset.
